I'm not sure about exactly what sort of keys it will auto-detect, but basically if the key doesn't work then you just follow my instructions. The Windows 8.1 installer refuses to accept the Windows 8 product key and won't allow us to install Windows 8.1 with it. It's because Windows 10 activation is most likely linked to some hardware ID on your computer.
